Street Style: A model, musician and medieval history student

Posted by Theo R / August 25, 2010

Toronto street styleName: Alie
Occupation: Model
My Style: Professional, modern. People on the street, magazines, and fashion shows inspire me.
Favourite Item: My Ray-Ban sunglasses. They never go out of style.

Name: Clifton
Occupation: Musician
My Style: I'm going to New York for a photo shoot, so I had to wear stuff that was going to go with the boots that I bought today. In general, being a musician, I like being a little more artistic with the way that I dress, but without going too bananas.
Favourite item: This necklace, because a friend gave it to me.

Toronto street styleName: Anastasia
Occupation: Musician/medieval history student
My Style: I like big shoes, layers, textures, and natural fabrics.
Favourite Item: My badass Jeffrey Campbell shoes. They were a birthday present from my boyfriend.

Name: Rodriguez
Occupation: Supervisor at credit card company
My Style: Classic. I'm French - from Paris - and we love to dress up.
Favourite item: My Gucci shoes. They look sharp, and I can wear them with jeans or with work pants.

Toronto street styleName: Andrea
Occupation: Sales associate
My Style: I like dressy, sophisticated, feminine clothing. Swedish fashion blogs inspire me.
Favourite item: The skirt. I love the fit, the colour, and the pockets.

Name: Laura
Occupation: Sales associate at vintage clothing store
My Style: I got a lot of what I'm wearing from my workplace. I get inspiration from people that I see on the street. I love vintage, especially 1950s dresses.
Favourite Item: My shoes. They're from the 70s, but I bought them brand new, never used.

Toronto street styleName: Elaine
Occupation: Assistant stylist
My Style: In general, my attire is pretty dark. I like layering a lot. I get inspiration from style blogs and working on-set.
Favourite Item: My Frye boots, because they're super comfortable. They pretty much go with anything.

Name: Carlie
Occupation: Group benefits & customer care rep
My Style: I have a sick obsession with red lipstick, cowboy boots and green nail polish.
Favourite Item: My cowboy boots. They're comfortable and they suit me. To be honest, I started wearing them to cover up my spindly little ankles.

LOL Anyone notice that the ones who actually look like they have some sense of style have some BS title for a job like, "Group benefits & customer care rep" or "Assistant Stylist" or best of all, "model" hahaha

Everyone is dressed so reasonably. Weird.

Allie, you look great! but . . . ray bans go out of style. When every single store in the mall makes a 10 dollar ripoff it means they're past their sell-by date

Hey Jerrold!
That was a super-fun shoot! Remember, we got in trouble with that train conductor for being on the tracks? I like random internet coincidences...

Funny, I saw Rodriguez being interviewed by blogTO on the street.
BTW, does blogTO warn everyone they interview that they might get panned from all the fashion police?

Everyone looks great, but excuse me guys, how have you not noticed that Rodriguez has no style at all. This is how people in Scarborough dress.

I'm not a Street Style fanatic, but I appreciate the lack of FLAGRANT DISPLAYS of a person's sexuality. Is it necessary for everyone to know which way you swing just by looking at you?
No. This bunch proves it.

Stay classy BlogTO!

Andrea and Laura are my favorites.
The last couple of Street Styles have been awesome (in my opinion). Good work!

you know, I recently lived in Paris for a few years and was astonished by how many Parisians had zero style. I was admittedly naive thinking I would move there and be blown away by everyone's fashion sense and "je ne sais quoi", but it was the total and complete opposite. Very conservative, and I would even say often fairly frumpy. Plus most Parisians were super-critical of anything outlandish or eccentric (which they consider British and therefore "terrible").
Anyhoo, not to badmouth Parisians - just my impression.

Let's start with your abuse of punctuation!

Punctuation and spelling police are like the itchy hemorrhoids of comment boards.

You know what you don't see people wearing in Europe (or even Montreal) though? Yoga pants. And thank God for that. I like a well-displayed ass as much as the next guy, but let's be honest, yoga pants are glorified sweatpants... they should not be worn outside the home or gym/yoga-studio.
