Ian Hanomansing

Posted by Kristine / November 18, 2005

05nov18sexiest.jpgIt would seem that no news is good news. And announcing that People Magazine has named Matthew McConaughey as "sexiest man alive" is definitely not newsworthy.

Not to be outdone however, objectification notwithstanding, I thought I would make my pick for sexiest man - who happens to be Canadian- alive: CBC's Ian Hanomansing. Brilliant and gorgeous.

Keep in mind, Canada is a country that counted Pierre Trudeau as a sex symbol. Which says something about straight/bisexual Canadian women and gay/bisexual Canadian men - we like men who can rub a plentitude of brain cells together.

My Runner ups:
Tyler Stewart from BareNaked Ladies because I think that he's funnier than Stephen Page - give me dry wit any day.

Kevin Sylvester, also of CBC. He is the only sportcaster I know who can quote Ovid AND expound upon issues of racism in sports -in the same sportscast, mind - without sounding pretentious. And he can draw -- now that is sexy.

oh, lordy - kevin sylvester? NOT pretentious? they guy is the deluxe model showcar of pretentiousness - he's just so obnoxiously giddy when andy acknowledges his "i'm not a sports guy" sports guy meanderings. he's the guy in 9th grade that tries oh so hard to be friends, which makes him unbearable to be around. i'm a pretty peaceful guy, but he makes me want to give him a super-atomic wedgie. phew...i'm feeling short of breath here.

i do owe him some debt of gratitude, though, in that as soon as i hear his voice in the morning i'm forced have to leap out of bed to avoid it.

i don't like him. nope.

Well, Chris - you don't have to. I've met the guy. I like him for the very reason that he doesn't take himself that seriously.

Then again, if you asked me who I thought was the sexiest actor alive was, as opposed to sexiest man, I would answer William Peterson (Grissom on CSI) without hesitation.

Runners up would be Patrick Stewart (Captain Picard of Star Trek TNG), Canadian Oliver Platt (Huff! and Casanova) and Alfred Molina (Frida and Spiderman II).

Things to make you go "Huh???"

I agree completely with Hanomansing, but Hanomansing like 7 years ago. He has since started to look a bit soft...in a pudgy kind of way. But agreed - He is still hot city.

Kristine is almost 36 years old.

Kristine likes them seasoned.

I'm in your demo. I stand by my statement. Nothing wrong with it.

there is absolutely nothing that is sexy about anyone who is in or likes the barenaked ladies.

Colin - is your issue with BNL their music or them personally?

Frankly, I have not listened to any of their stuff since they released their first tape. (Who still has "the yellow cassette"?). The younger Keegan brother was in residence (Knox College at U of T) with a friend of mine. Otherwise I would have never heard of them.

I like BNL the way that I like Weird Al Yanovic. In the day, I found them entertaining. They lost me when they went "serious".

But I still like Tyler.

And I'm seductive, not sexy.

brokenengine, I don't "like em old". If they are younger than my mother (who's retired now) then they are NOT old.

Patrick Stewart is merely the exception.

It's not that I don't like young actors. I just find the bulk of them to be insipid. Insipid is NOT sexy.

Ian Hanomansing and Kevin Newman have topped my list for a few years now. Come 6:00 each weeknight, I don't know which way to turn.

Weird Al went serious? ;)

Alfred Molina is pretty ancient too. Again, nothing wrong with it. I've lusted after many mature women in my time.

I find most young actors insipid too.

So this morning, I heard Andy Barrie ribbing Kevin Sylvester on CBC about this article (on my instigation, I admit - ahhh, the wonders of e-mail). Nothing better than hearing Kevin blush on public radio...

Jamie Bamber gets my vote. He's in Vancouver, filming more episodes of the brilliant Battlestar Galactica remake. Yummy.

Ian has a reputation at the CBC for being a total jerk. A highly regarded producer who was brought over from Toronto quit 8 months in, saying "I can't work with that a**hole."

That's just a bizarre comment. In fact, its just the opposite. He's about the nicest guy I've ever worked with.

Bzzzz. Hear that axe grinding CBCer? I don't know who you are but if you want the true measure of an anchor ask his or her crew. Out here in Vancouver, we think Ian is the best. We're a team and he is always polite and generous, even in the middle of the hardest moment.

Wow, I thought I was the only person who adored Ian. Hmmm. . . I wonder if he has a fan club?

I really like Ian Hanomansing. He is my favorite. I really want to meet him or talk to him someday. CBC news is the best.

I have no idea how to get ahold of Ian. there is a webite with his name attached to it which holds a large virus. I had punched in "Master of Ceremonies Toronto" One of the selections contains a womans name "michelle laurie Good". This site contains a worm and a trojan virus. FYI!
