I have been coming to World Salon since it began! I live in the USA and come up to TO to see Brian and the Gang! I have been with Brian for 20 years and let everyone know "My-Brian" is the only one who can touch my hair!

After much bad experience with colouring my own hair and a trip to another salon with unsatisfactory results, I decided to research a hair salon before visiting one. From the presentation of the website, World Salon seemed a bit intimidating and uptight, but to my surprise, it was actually a very inviting space and staff. Interior rocks there. Johanna gave me a clear and concise consultation followed by colour correction, which despite being pricey for my broken student pocket ($150) was worth it. All staff was friendly, professional and polite, and seemed human and not pretentious (or maybe they're just very good actors ;)In the end, Johanna did try to sell me their shampoo and conditioner, but it's just my personal peeve for forcing a sale...I would definitely buy it because of its organic composition, but again it's way too expensive ($34 for both on promotion now). I would recommend the salon and Johanna because of her excellent results.

I've left my hair to the devices--and good graces--of Aki-Rosario, ever since she fixed an awful cut and color years ago. Aki incorporates a calm mindfulness to her work that is not scripted or used as a device manufactured in artifice; instead, she truly takes into consideration the whole person, and designs a style accordingly. It is in this manner that the individual is allowed to showcase his or her true nature: the rock star, intellectual, or dreamboat wears the style--the style does not wear (or wear thin on) the person.

I trust my hair with Aki because she is so worth it. Even as a poor student, the quality and longevity of her cuts far outweigh the cost. I've sent multiple now-ex-boyfriends to her; not only has she shaped up every one, but they continue to see her when they will no longer see me. The stronger relationship is evident!

Aki and the entire staff at World are just awesome. Their education and resumes and commitment to personal and environmental care should make them far more haughty than any of them actually are. World Salon has every reason to be pretentious, and yet they aren't. And it is such a treat, every time, to come in looking like shit, sit down with some tea, watch Aki and the crew work their magic with joy, in community with both each other and their clients, and leave feeling brilliant, and like an integral part of it all.

I am so grateful that Aki is part of my World.

May I add my name to this love-in? World is a great salon. Everyone there is awesome, but how can it be any other way when you have Brian at the helm? Brian is talented, kind and wonderful and he has surrounded himself with people of like-minds. Aki, for one, is not only a fantastic stylist but also a terrific person. I don't know how to describe the special charm of the place except to say walking in there for me is like walking into a good friend's living room. Everyone is friendly, gracious and real. I started going for the cut and colour, but I have stayed on because of the people.

Lukas rescued my teenage daughter from a hair colour disaster with dedication and skill and charged us less than the other hair stylist charged us to ruin her hair in the first place. He is an absolute hair genius and a delightful person.

World Salon has a wonderful atmosphere and is beautifully designed, edgy yet unpretentious. We are offered tea the moment we come in the door so we feel like guests.

And by the way, the shampoo they sell is incredible.

I decided I wanted to do something drastic and cut all my hair off. After much research I confided in a friend of a friend (Gary) knowing that he was a hair stylist...and decided to give it a go. When I got to World Salon, everyone was incredibly friendly and i loved the inviting atmosphere. The decor/design feels very spacious and open...this is not one of those stuck up salons. World Salon has a professional yet homey feel. After looking through a catalog of short dos, I chose one called Brut Metallique. Gary let me know that he would personalize it for my curly hair. I told Gary exactly how I wanted it to look and he was patient with my demands. He introduced me to my new favourite product - Beam Cream Styling Gel by Biosthetique(which I use every day). It smells delicious. Like candy. :) I am ecstatic about my new short do and keep wondering why I didn't do it sooner. I will definitely be coming back to World Salon soon. Thank you World Salon. Thank you Gary. xo

Hii,
I'm looking for a permanent stylist to cut my hair, someone that i can trust and therefore keep going back to, I've been bouncing around town looking for someone who does great cuts for straight hair, and unfortunately have not found the right person. I've loved the comments from this salon and I look forward in going!
With my hair type I find that mistakes are so prominent since it's so straight and I don't want to always be in that awkward waiting for the cut to grow out phase. Any suggestions as to who I should see??

Everything about World Salon blew me away. The atmosphere, the very personal customer service and of course the outstanding cut and colour I got from Lukas. I originally went in for a colour correction, but i am so happy luckas fixed my cut as well. I was a hair model and allowed my last stylist to practice his creative cut on my hair... interesting but not flattering. But I didn't realize just how unhappy i was with my last cut until Lukas gave me the most manageable and most flattering cut I've ever had. I can't wait until my next appointment!!

Best Men's Haircut in Toronto – Lukas Suter

At the risk of making it more difficult to get an appointment with Lukas, I feel I owe it to him to spread the good word. And that word is – perfect. If you're a man who appreciates the difference between tailored and off-the-rack, make your next hair appointment with Lukas.

Finally, a haircut without a headache! (Finally, a salon that isn't a toxic wasteland!)

I am sensitive to harsh scents and most salons give me a migraine. The environmentally-conscious products that World uses smell natural and fresh.
The atmosphere is friendly, peaceful and professional. I really enjoyed having my hair cut by Johanna. The results are fantastic. Thank you!

WOW! I couldn't be more impressed! I got my highlight done by Yuka today. I have gone through MANY hairdressers (probably close to a dozen -- and I am only in my 20s!) and she is by FAR the best thing that has ever happened to my hair. She went above and beyond and gave a superior service- not to mention what a complete sweetheart she is. I highly recommend this salon!

This is an email we just recieved today from Jeff (first time customer):

"Just a quick compliment to pass on to Gary… (x2)
When I got home after the cut last night, my girlfriend mentioned that my hair looked the best that it ever had since she had met me (4 years).

Then… walked into the office today and got a “nice haircut” from one of the girls at work!

Thanks again-

PS. Let’s not use this as a basis to raise prices..

Cheers,

Jeff"

Hi Brian,

I had my first cut with Yuka on Saturday April 30th and wanted to you let you and her know that it is my favourite cut ever. Thank you, Yuka!

Also, I have found that the environment in a lot of salons to be tense, stressful, and unfriendly but I really enjoyed the atmosphere in your salon. It was really quite a pleasant experience being there.

I’ve already told anyone who’ll listen about the experience I had. It has taken me about a year and a half to find a salon so I’m quite pleased I’ve found you.

Thanks again and see you soon!

One of the best salon experiences I've had. My past experience in other salons has been rushed and has left me with a headache. I'm often over-lapped with other clients and find myself left alone for long periods of time or taken care of by other workers - who ever has a few spare minutes to deal with me. This place was different! Gary really took time and care with my cut. He did an amazing job. The staff is friendly and the environment of the salon left me feeling quite relaxed. I will definitely be going back.

I have to tell you that this is the BEST salon in the city of Toronto. I have had hair cuts from hell, dye jobs I always went back a second time to be fixed, and stylists who just didn't know what they were doing. I've been to plenty of people and until now I was always disappointed. I was referred to World Salon in 2010 and haven't looked back since. Lukas has the touch. My hair was dry from all the highlights and the colour was a mess. He was able to bring it back to a healthy state and the colour is so well blended and natural looking. I couldn't have asked for more. And the products are as natural as they come! How much better can it get. So if you are picky when it comes to your hair and you don't have time to waste you should call them. Outstanding service, expertise and well WORTH the money! Thanks.

Hi,

It's great to read all the wonderful comments here. I have a Groupon that I bought for the salon as I am intrigued due to their eco friendly nature. Needless to say like many here I have jumped around to a few different stylists - still haven't found anyone I really connect with - or a salon I'm happy with and will give me a great cut for my wavy/curly hair!
Looking forward to checking you out.

I have to agree with all the positive reviews here. Had a great experience at this salon! The environment was warm and inviting and the staff was very friendly. Lukas did an amazing job on my hair! Amazing cut! He knows his stuff and you can really tell he cares about your hair. I highly recommend this salon!

I must say my colour and cut with Lucas tonight was the best yet. He is absolutely amazing. I've been with the salon for a year now and fear the day of Lucas ever leaving. My hair has never looked so good. Best Salon in the city hands down and the products are fantastic!

Got my hair cut by Johanna a week ago and love, love, love what she did. I've been trying a couple of different salons since moving to Toronto over a year ago and I think I'm finally stuck. So happy with how meticulously she styled my bangs and asymmetric cut. The salon itself was very inviting. Everyone was super nice and they had a beautiful "Christmas tree" in the window. I would definitely recommend World salon and Johanna after the great experience I had.

As a new comer to Toronto, World Salon was the first salon I went to after doing a bit of research. I was having a somewhat major hairstyle change and wanted someone to artfully cut off all my dreadlocks. At first I was worried about cutting all my hair off but Yuka did such an amazing job and I no longer fear hair salons. Can't say enough good words about this place. Highly recommend it. And thank you to Yuka who did an amazing job!!

Warning.....this place gave me the worst haircut I have had in 20 years!!! I was rendered speechless. I usually provide a photograph of the style I'm aiming for to facilitate communication and did on this occassion. I subsequently had my hair cut like Ted Danson cica Cheers!!! --not what I had in mind(or anyone has in mind!)...I'm going to get things sorted today. I would give this place a wide berth if you are a guy...I would honestly say you would be better going to a random cheapo barbers and saving some serious bucks that you could donate to an Eco charity. I have never written a comment on a forum like this before which will give you a measure of how dissapointed I was by this place!

I had my hair done for my wedding at World in mid-December by Johanna. Before that, I also had her colour it, and I cannot recommend her enough. Not only is the colour gorgeous and my hair is totally un-fried, but the hair she did for my wedding was a thing of absolute beauty. I opted to have the hair trial and the hair done on the day, which I think is a really good choice as its hard to tell what will work with your hair until you do it. Johanna is fun, amazingly cool, and incredibly talented. The hair up-do I had on my wedding day was gorgeous, and it stayed in place all through the day, even with having pictures taken outside, and long into the night. It was also light and comfortable. I really, really recommend Johanna for wedding hair and colouring!
