TNT Hazelton Lanes
TNT Hazelton Lanes demands you bring comfortable walking shoes (or your Isabel Marant boots...whatever) since the brand new store is 18,000 square feet. Another necessary bring-along is your wallet, preferably well-stocked, since it has all of the TNT favourite brands, including Alexander Wang, Comme des Garรงons, Haute Hippie, Pink Tartan, FreeCity, and more.
Just opened a week, I walked in to find it all geared up for spring. Though the store is mostly glass, white, and sleekly modern, a section to the left of the mall entrance has been beached-bummed out with wood paneling, lots of Levi's ($89.95), Citizens of Humanity jeans ($225), and Splendid racerback tanks ($55).
But beyond that section, all the items in the store are generously spaced, arranged somewhat by colour, somewhat by style, and occasionally by brand (yes, there's a whole section and wall of FreeCity).
Up the illuminated, industrial stairs is where I found more of the dressier and unusual pieces, including a $3000 Jitrois leather dress and $995 Yrusha draped muslin piece. Across the hall is where you'll find the men's clothing, shoes, and accessories, spanning 4,000 square feet.
TNT, which stands for The New Trend, was started in 1992 by Arie Assaraf and Carrie Richmond. It started on Eglinton West near Avenue Road, where it now occupies over 5,500 square feet, which, oddly, seems small compared to the new digs. TNT also has a store in Montreal on rue ST-Catherine Ouest, and has announced it will open a buying office in New York City.
But back at Hazelton, I'm finally narrowing my list of if-I-marry-rich desired items. Occupying the top spot is is a Smythe equestrian jacket with leather elbow patches and vintage inspired buttons ($595), closely followed by a Deepa Gurnani fuschia and gold sequined clutch ($295). Still, there's such an unbelievable amount of merchandise in this store, something else will always invariably catch your eye.
