Noir Nail BarNoir Nail Bar in Liberty Village is very hip and trendy, and offers free WiFi which is generally just a bonus if you aren't getting a manicure. The place is very sleek with cool lighting fixtures and wall art, and the mani/pedis are reasonably priced at $30 and $45.

I wasn't very pleased with their mani/pedi. I came with a deal (Fabfind? Forgot) and the woman working on my nails just seemed too much in a hurry to finish the job. I swear I could have done a better DIY. Unfortunate, as I was looking for a place I can go to regularly since I live in Liberty Village. I told my friend who wanted to go there to forget it and just do it herself. Nothing there but hipsy glitz. I prefer to go to the nails salon on Hanna avenue with asian mani/pedicurists. The noise level may be a bit disconcerting, but they definitely do a better, more thorough job.

I have been here twice - once to do a regular mani/pedi and once to have a mani/pedi with shellac.
The first time, the girl forgot to put cuticle oil on my fingernails. I am no manicurist but pretty sure that is standard after a mani.
Other than that I think it was an okay experience. The atmosphere is nice but for the price it is not worth what they charge, especially compared to other decent places downtown that charge half the price and do a better job.
For the shellac - It looked okay at the nail bar (likely due to the dim lighting) but then now that I am at home the job was actually pretty poorly done. The gel is way too thick making my nails look unnatural. There is one nail that has a massive dent in it which the manicurist covered up w/ MORE nail polish rather than take it off and start again. The sides were poorly done and when looked at closely are really quite lumpy.
I would NOT recommend this place despite how convenient it is if you live in the area and the cool ambiance. Take your money elsewhere!

i am really really picky when it comes to my nails - if I come out and 1 nail is slightly crooked or smudged or anything, you've lost me forever and I will never come back
often I find the job has little to do with the location and everything to do with the person doing the job
Melissa is a perfectionist! I've never left from getting my nails done and been more satisfied. She looks at your nail for all angles to ensure they are straight before filing is complete and ensures the smoothness of each cuticle.

I have been here on multiple occasions - a few with a fab fine and few times as a full paying customer. Every time I have had to deal with the cold snotty receptionist (I believe she is the owner). Customer service is a simple thing that goes a long way-I guess she was never taught that. Anyways my first few times I came my experience was good minus the receptionists attitude. My most recent time I had booked an appointment for a manicure and pedicure in advanced. My pedicure was complete and iwas sitting down for my manicure when the owner came up to me and let me know they were unable to finish my manicure because the next appointment was here. This is not my fault a.) you need to book more time for your appointments b.) I had a scheduled appointment and expect my services to be complete. I will never return and do not recommend this place. In order for this business to be succeed they need to start having an appreciative attitude towards clients with scheduled services. And I think there is something to be said on the number of times noir nail bar has leaned on fab find for business- they are unable to keep a steady clientele due to the poor customer service.

I tried Noir based on it being in this Top 10 list and because it's closest to where I live, however I will never go back. The receptionist, whom I believe is the owner, has a very strong accent and I could not understand her. She and her daughter run the place and neither of them are estheticians and they have have high turnover for staff because of how it's run, and you can tell. My manicurists snippers were extremely dull and she had to pull on my cuticles because the snippers wouldn't cut them right away, not fun. She also clipped them DRY!! No finger tip soaking, nothing and at one point (because there is no bowl of water on the mani-bar) you are asked to get up and go to the sink yourself and wash your hands. I asked for the file and re-filed my nails myself after she did it because they were all crooked, she did not bother to see how they looked from all angles. The polish was not applied as close to the cuticle as possible and within 5 days it looked like it had grown out two weeks. The pedicure was mediocre; I do not have thick callouses but my feet were not perfectly smooth after, the sloughing/paddling should have been much better. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
