First of all, it is ridiculous Barberella did not make the “Top salons in TO” list. Also BlogTO couldn’t even take the time to get the company name correct when it is written right on the sign in the display picture! I have been all over the city and Barberella is fabulous. The salon is cute and clean. The prices are reasonable. The girls are great. Karleena did a remarkable job on my hair, what a change from my last cut at Grateful Head. My hair is very difficult to cut and manage, Karleena was not fazed at all, she knew exactly what to dowith it. This is exactly what I have been looking for the past 3 years! I will certainly be coming back again.

Wanted to try this salon after hearing decent reviews and having made the booking in a few weeks time, I decided to phone them and change the appointment to get my haircut (long past due)done by the end of the week instead.

I commuted from the GTA to get to Barbarella and unfortunately when I got there, I was told that no such change was made for me. It seems that my original appointment was cancelled but the change for the new one was not made. I essentially wasted time and gas to get downtown and was sorely disappointed with the poor service. They didn't offer any compensation for the inconvience caused, which is unprofessional considering that Barbarella charges "50% of the service for the appointment that was missed" (www.barbarella.ca)if an appointment is cancelled without 24 hours notice.

I was expecting to relax after a stressful week and not only did I get inconvienced and annoyed from this experience, I've still yet to get my haircut! =(

I have naturally very dark brown Asian hair but wish I was a platinum blonde. In my quest to become one, I've tried numerous hair salons and hair stylists. No one has given me better hair colour than Karleena at Barberella. She asked me about my previous procedures and explained to me what she was going to do to my hair before each step. I felt I was in good hands. And the colour turned out beautifully - very even shade of pale neutral blonde. She even recommended me conditioners to repair my damaged ends. A plus!

Guys..

I gave Karleena the seemingly impossible task of cutting my hair. I had been growing it out for about 6 years, it was roughly 23 inches long. Everyone told me I'd be crazy to cut it, but after six years of taking care of that mane, it was time to let go.

Karleena made me feel SO comfortable. She listened to exactly what I wanted (which was some jumble about an "out grown bedhead bob" that was "beachy" yet "elegant" and "feminine").

She was extremely thorough (considered my hair type, what my morning routine was etc) and worked some kind of magic because she gave me exactly what I went for.

Thank you thank you Karleena!

Shelly is amazing. I followed her from Queen Street because, simply put, she rocks. She always did an amazing job on my crazy thick, curly hair. She even did my hair for my wedding. It was beautiful. I moved to Seattle and it's the only reason I switched salons. It was just too hard to convince her to move. :-) If you want great service by cool people who do wicked hair, look no further than Barberella.

Karleena left Barbarella and I would like to know if she is working somewhere else.It took me three years to find someone that I like, so please I would appreciate if someone knows anything about her?!

I also called to book with Karleena but was told she is no longer doing hair due to a developing allergic reaction (colour dye etc), so she is doing something completely different (teaching gymnastics I think?)

I booked with someone else in the salon and I'm confident they'll be just as great!
