Berlin/Toronto Project
Toronto Dance Theatre is excited to present the Berlin/Toronto Project, a showcase of bold new works for the company by Berlin choreographers Felix Marchand and Christoph Winkler. Presented in association with the Goethe-Institut Toronto at the Winchester Street Theatre, TDT will present eight performances from May 21-23 and 27-30, 2009.
The Berlin/Toronto Project has been in development since 2006. Conceived by TDT’s Artistic Director Christopher House, the project speaks to the company’s commitment to exploring fresh new ideas in choreographic expression. It will offer Toronto audiences and the Toronto arts community a unique opportunity to engage with two innovative voices in the vibrant Berlin dance scene.
TDT is delighted to welcome German dramaturge and scholar Susanne Foellmer, who will present a Lecture on Dance in Berlin on May 19th at 7pm, and lead a post-performance discussion on the works of Felix Marchand and Christoph Winkler on May 22nd. Ms. Foellmer will also participate in a Discussion on the Art of Dramaturgy-of-the-Body to be held on May 18th at 7pm. All events will be held at the Winchester Street Theatre. Ms. Foellmer’s participation has been made possible by the generous support of the Canadian Embassy in Berlin.
May 21-22 and 27-30, 8pm and May 23, 2pm. Matinee is PWYC.
