FEAST IN THE EAST 31: Saturns + Hermit Thrushes + Mannerisms
FEAST IN THE EAST is a monthly east end music, food & installation series.
This month features a free dinner by Anna May Henry (http://www.annamayhenry.com/).
Some distorted buried vocals blurt out under new wave reminiscent synth lines. Drum machine hits sound like a hard slap on some leather exterior. Languid electro-clash tendencies mingle with punk rock dabbling. All the fake instruments for the right job. Heavy bass tones float aimlessly in a tropical outer space dream.
HERMIT THRUSHES (http://www.sgmgrecords.com/hermit_thrushes.html)
Philly prog pop band comes to Toronto for the first time! Guitar notes intermingle with rhythmic sax lines. Angular structures fall back on droning melodic notes. Vocals whisper between stabs of sax, violin & guitar. Free form Ayler-isms meet warped modern prog sensibilities.
New Toronto psych prog unit unveils some freaked out jams just in time for your post halloween sugar melt down. Deep pony tail zone, with Dean Wales, Chris Evans & 3 other homies on the collision course. Come early to check this prog dad approved ripper!
