Lyricalmyrical Chapbook Launch with James Deahl, Babar Khan, and Jeannine Pitas

Come join poets James Deahl, Babar Khan and Jeannine Pitas as they celebrate the launch of their poetry chapbooks, \"North Point,\" \"Biscuit Galaxy,\" and \"Our Lady of the Snow Angels.\" All these books are made and distributed by Toronto-based poet, editor, and publisher Luciano Iacobelli. This launch will take place on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at the Q Space, 382 College Street.

James Deahl was born in Pittsburgh (USA) in 1945, and grew up in that city as well as in and around the Laurel Highlands region
of the Appalachian Mountains. He moved to Canada in 1970 and holds dual American/Canadian citizenship. He is the author (or, in one case, translator) of twenty-one literary titles. A cycle of his poems is the focus of a one-hour TV special, \"Under the Watchful Eye\" (Silver Falls Video Productions, 1993). His \"Tasting The Winter Grapes\" won the Award of Excellence from the Hamilton & Region Arts Council. In 2001 Deahl was presented with the Charles Olson Award for Achievements in Poetry. His \"When Rivers Speak\" won the Ramada Plaza Hotel Award.In addition to his writing, he has taught creative writing and Canadian literature at the high school, college, and university levels. He no longer teaches, and for the past dozen years has mostly been a full-time writer/editor/translator. Deahl is the leading Acornic scholar.

Babar Khan is a Toronto poet, photographer and translator who grew up in Paris. He has been published in Contemporary Verse 2, Rampike, The Spice Monitor and Dada Vol-au-Vent. In 2006, he won the Prix de poésie de la Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris for a poem that he wrote in English and translated into French. \"Biscuit Galaxy\" is his first mini-collection of poems.

Jeannine Pitas is a writer, translator, teacher and PhD candidate in comparative literature at University of Toronto. She is the English-language translator of acclaimed Uruguayan poet Marosa di Giorgio\'s \"The History of Violets,\" published by Brooklyn-based Ugly Duckling Presse in 2010. She has published poetry in The Buffalo News, Chrysalis, Red River Review, Carte Blanche and elsewhere. \"Our Lady of the Snow Angels\" is her first poetry chapbook.
