Gather Under The Almond Tree Fundraiser

December 4, 2008

World AIDS Day is observed every year on December 1st and is an important day to help raise awareness and support for the global HIV/AIDS pandemic.

The “GATHER UNDER THE ALMOND TREE” Fundraiser & Awareness Event has been created to coincide with World AIDS Day events to help promote awareness and gather support for a Ghanaian microfinance group called The Almond Tree.

The Almond tree is a united group of men and women living with HIV/AIDS in Accra, Ghana engaged in an income generating activity to improve their economic independence and hope to remove the stigma they face in their communities due to their HIV+ status. They proudly handcraft jewellery and Ghanaian batik and tie-dye fabrics into products such as handbags and table cloths.
