Cages Of Shame Screening
Come out and join us for an inspiring story of rescue and survival!
Director Martin Guinness' moving film about captive moon bears won the first-place prize in the 2011 ACE Grant (Humane Society of USA). Profiling animal rescuer Jill Robinson, Cages of Shame follows her ...on an exciting journey as she shuts down a Chinese bear bile farm. Oliver, is one of the bears rescued had spent 30 years on a bile farm.
One of 7 can't miss films of 2012 according to VegNews! "Cages of Shame is a powerful look into China’s cruel bear-bile farms and a tale of the rescue of 10 of their captives. Tragic but inspiring, the film follows animal activist Jill Robinson and her team as they do whatever it takes to liberate moon bears from a farm where they have lived devastatingly miserable lives in deplorable conditions, all in the name of collecting their bile for supposedly medicinal uses. Shedding light on a lesser-known but horrific industry, this documentary could have the power to raise awareness and abolish the practice of bear-bile farming forever."
Evening also includes and exciting talk by animal rights photographer Jo-Anne McArthur who was there during a rescue and Alice Ng of AAF who will provide an uplifting update on Oliver and the other bears that were rescued.
Vegan baked goods will be for sale.
