Your panelists:
Anatomy of A Hit:
Jim Vallance has had more than 300 songs covered by artists as diverse as Ozzy Osbourne, Aerosmith, Anne Murray, Heart, Joe Cocker and Bryan Adams. More than 30 of his songs have make the Billboard Single Charts and 17 have landed in the Top 20. He has won Composer of the Year four times in Canada and has more than 30 Procan/Socan Awards and six BMI Awards. Still a very prolific songwriter, Vallance is in equal demand as a producer and continues to work with top-level recording artists from around the globe. Jim is on the board of SOCAN and the Songwriters Association of Canada.
Cyber PR:
Janis Nixon has over ten years experience in the Canadian music industry and has spent the past eight years at Universal Music, marketing international and domestic artists in the online and mobile music space.
Radio Programming:
Martin Tremblay (PD Toronto. MIX FM 99.9) was born in Montreal, Quebec. After 2 years of studies in Politics (Concordia University) and Economics (UQAM), Martin Tremblay earned a B.A in Communications Studies at the Laval University in Quebec City. There, his volunteer work made him one of the pioneers of the campus radio station CHYZ, his first contact with what would become a passion. In December 2007, Jacques Parisien, Astral Media Radio President gives him what would become the biggest challenge of his career; the rebranding and the re-launching of MIX 99.9FM. Martin is one of the key architects behind the unique sound of Virgin Radio in Toronto. His 15 years success as a programmer in French and English Canada earned him many awards over the years. He was named Radio Programmer of the Year in 2002.
