ARTIST TALK: Bamiyan featuring Jayce Salloum and Khadim Ali
Saturday, April 3, 2010 at 1:00 p.m.

Join us for the opening of the contemporary art exhibition, Bamiyan (the heart that has no love/pain/generosity is not a heart), and an illustrated talk by its co-creators on April 3 at 1:00 p.m. Vancouver-based media artist Jayce Salloum and Afghan-Hazara artist Khadim Ali will discuss their collaborative installation, comprised of an archive of photographs, miniature paintings and videos. The exhibition examines the aftermath of the March 2001 destruction by the Taliban of the colossal c. 5th century Buddhas of the Bamiyan Valley in Central Afghanistan. The talk will be followed by a reception and tour of the exhibition, as well as the exhibition catalogue launch. Bamiyan is on display at the ROM from April 3 - May 2, 2010 only.

Presented by the ROM’s Institute for Contemporary Culture and SAVAC (South Asian Visual Art Centre), in collaboration with the 23rd Images Festival.
