Toronto Doula Speed Dating - Helping Moms Have Better Biths

If you are a parent considering a doula for your birth or a doula wanting to expand your practice, you will benefit from the support and accessibility of Doula Speed Dating in Toronto.

WHAT IS A DOULA?

Doulas might be the most important thing parents invest in for their birth and are being sought out by parents who value the emotional support and advocacy a doula offers. A doula does not perform any clinical tasks, but instead prepares parents for their birth fears, helps them to cope with the intensity of labour and facilitates discussion between parents and their health care team.

HOW DO YOU FIND A DOULA?

Researching and interviewing doulas can take a lot of time. To make it easier for parents to find doulas, Amanda Spakowski of The Nesting Place and Dr. Jennifer Wise of Urban Chiropractic are hosting Toronto’s only Doula Speed Dating!

Cost: FREE Pre-registration is required.

In Doula Speed Dating, parents meet 6-7 doulas in a number of mini-interviews and can easily narrow their doula search to 2-3 top choices.

Parents who use doulas:
* -Feel more satisfied with their birth experience regardless of the outcome
* -Are less likely to experience postpartum depression
* -Have shorter births
* -Are more likely to have an easier time breastfeeding
* -Are less likely to need medical intervention

Doulas attending Doula Speed Dating have met the following criteria:
-Have completed training with a recognized doula training facility (i.e. DONA, CAPPA, Childbirth International, Hypnobirthing, Birthing From Within) and provided proof of training with their application
-Are LGBTTTQ friendly
-Are actively practicing doulas (new or experienced)
-Have available spots for doula clients in the 6 months following the event
-offer services in Toronto proper
