Faithfully recreating the soulful roots rock reggae sound, The House of David Gang is a certifiable reggae orchestra. KIDD RASTA & THE PEACEMAKERS (Toronto, ON)
http://www.myspace.com/kiddrasta
Ten years and four albums later, Kidd Rasta and the Peacemakers are still on the scene creating more music than ever. It is in the ethnically diverse streets of Toronto, Canada where the band meets to create their unique sound. Being of Rasta faith, Kidd writes music to a reggae vibe but with a twist. "It’s People Music". Achieving radio play, television spotlights, and creating live shows, which can even get grandma up and dancing, has opened many doors for the band. This includes opening for acts ranging from reggae's Luciano to rock and roll's Lenny Kravitz. Kidd Rasta and the Peacemakers are currently working on the soundtracks for new Paul Perrier documentaries "Cracked Not Broken" and "Looking For Rasta", releasing their new music videos for "Rwanda" and "4/20 Ganja Song", and in the studio recording the bands fifth full length album. Kidd is also excited about his first solo project produced by Vincent Grant of the renowned Tuff Gong Studios in Jamaica. Kidd Rasta and the Peacemakers' music and positive message continues to reach more people as their popularity grows.

HIGH PLAINS DRIFTER (Toronto)

Rasta Reuben & Selassie I Power
http://www.reggaeplanet.ca
New Roots Rock Reggae phenomenon Selassie iPower is more than a band; it's a vision. The group grew out of DJ and poet Rasta Reuben's Selassie I Power Sound System, a play on the many "Hi Power" systems on the Toronto club scene in the early 90s. A powerful singer and prolific songwriter, Rasta Reuben won the "Canadian Urban Music Award" for Best Reggae Album for his 1998 CD "King of Kings." Rasta Reuben is known for his astonishing live energy — he trains for performance with cross-country running and four hours of dancing daily — but neither is he one to neglect the studio.

Robert “Bob” Nesta Marley (February 6, 1945 – May 11, 1981) was a Jamaican musician, singer-songwriter and Rastafarian. He was the lead singer, songwriter and guitarist for the ska, rocksteady and reggae bands: The Wailers (1964 – 1974) and Bob Marley & the Wailers (1974 – 1981). Marley remains the most widely known and revered performer of reggae music, and is credited for helping spread Jamaican music to the worldwide audience.

Marley’s best known hits include “I Shot the Sheriff”, “No Woman, No Cry”, “Exodus”, “Could You Be Loved”, “Stir It Up”, “Jamming”, “Redemption Song”, “One Love” and, together with The Wailers, “”Three Little Birds”, as well as the posthumous releases “Buffalo Soldier” and “Iron Lion Zion”. The compilation album, Legend, released in 1984, three years after his death, is the best-selling reggae album ever (10 times platinum), with sales of more than 12 million copies.

Today almost anywhere in the world when the name Bob Marley is mentioned it is recognized by old and young. He remains enormously popular and well known all over the world. Reggae’s most transcendent and iconic figure, Bob Marley was the first Jamaican artist to achieve international super stardom, in the process introducing the music of his native island nation to the far-flung corners of the globe. Marley’s music gave voice to the day-to-day struggles of the Jamaican experience, vividly capturing not only the plight of the country’s impoverished and oppressed but also the devout spirituality that remains their source of strength.

His songs of faith, devotion, and revolution created a legacy that continues to live on not only through the music of his extended family but also through generations of artists the world over touched by his genius.

Last year's show was a blast and was a sell out! Don't miss it and don't forget your non-perishable food donation for the cause.
