SNOWED IN! Holiday animation workshops and screenings

GET SNOWED IN AT THE NFB MEDIATHEQUE!

Leave the parka at home and let your imagination do the work! Join us every day from December 27 to January 3 and animate your favourite snow activities using a variety of techniques including 3D clay, paper cut outs, classical animation, and pixillation.

Workshops are offered twice a day, from 12 PM to 2 PM, and from 3 PM to 5 PM, for only $5 per child. Available for children aged 3 to 13. Adults: take part in the action at no extra charge. See registration information below.

Participants can also attend our Snowed In screenings for FREE! Enjoy Christmas Cracker, Léon in Wintertime, Ludovic – The Snow Gift & It’s Snow (total running time: 1 hour). Screenings begin at 2 PM each day.

Sunday, December 27 – Snowy, Snowy Night! It’s true… no two snowflakes are exactly alike! Help create an animated snowfall. (Paper cut-out animation)

Monday, December 28 – Decoration Celebration
Tired of the same old decorations? Draw up some new ones and watch them come to life!

Tuesday, December 29 – Suited Up for Snow
Today’s snow people dress up in more than carrots and coal! Animate your fashionable creation.(3D clay animation)

Wednesday, December 30 – Snow Day!
School’s out for snow! How will you spend your day? (Paper cut outs and sand animation)

Thursday, December 31 – Ice Skating
Strap on your blades and show us your animated moves, from pirouettes to Figure 8s! (Pixillation)

Saturday, January 2 – Snow Animals
Create your own four-legged friend for frigid weather! (Finger painting on cels)

Sunday, January 3 – Snow Plow
Shovelling snow doesn’t have to be a chore. Help clear the way using your hands and clay! (3D clay animation)
