St. Lawrence Market 205th anniversary
Celebrate your City Market – a Toronto tradition that continues through the generations. Meet us at St. Lawrence Market for food, festivities and fun as we mark the history of Toronto by celebrating the history of the market.
The day-long event will feature entertainment, children’s crafts and games, cooking demonstrations, history talks and tour, Toronto trivia for prizes and storytelling and theatre for all ages.
Highlights include: musical performances by After Hours (acapella), The Human Statues (punk, rock & pop), and Dirty Dishes (bluegrass trio); Featured buskers Mysterion the Mentalist, Silver Elvis, FireGuy, magician Dylan Studibaker and stilt dancer Ezra Houser. 2009 Juno Award nominee Chris McKhool will perform Earth, Seas & Air, an interactive concert that is part musical and part environmentalism. Native Earth Performing Arts will perform The Really, Really, Fast History of Toronto, a fast-paced, funny, musical and moving history of all the peoples, fables and legends that make up Toronto's vast tapestry.
No celebration at the market would be complete without good food with great taste. The market’s merchants, farmers and artisans will feature $1.75 and $11.75 fare and speciality items to commemorate Toronto’s 175th birthday.
