HONK! is the story of Ugly, whose odd, gawky looks instantly incite prejudice from his family and neighbours. Separated from the farm and pursued by a hungry Cat, Ugly must find his way home. Along his rollicking and harrowing journey he not only discovers his true beauty and glorious destiny, but also finds love and acceptance in all its forms.

In the London season featuring the appearance of “The Lion King”, HONK! became a stand-out by winning the 2000 Olivier Award (the British equivalent of the Tony® Award) for Best New Musical.

Written by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe (dubbed “the brightest hopes for the future of the British musical” by The London Daily Telegraph), HONK! Is a marvelously funny, frequently touching and constantly magical musical for children (and adults) of all ages!

HONK! is directed and choreographed by Donna Marie Baratta, and musically directed by Christopher Wilson. Da Capo Productions Young Company features Tonia Brooks, Jordan Devon, Caitie Graham, Justin Kelly, Laura Krieger, Zack Martin, Ari Perlin-Bain, and Samantha Somer Wilson, with special guests Ryan Bobkin and Tamara Vojinovic.

Working with community partners including The Toronto District School and the Kids Up Front Foundation (Toronto), HONK! also serves as a vibrant community arts outreach program promoting hands-on access to the performing arts for elementary-aged children within the Toronto region.

Da Capo Productions is a young and dynamic, not-for-profit, professional theatre company. Our mandate includes a commitment to the artistry of musical theatre: presenting high-quality and entertaining productions, producing cutting-edge works, developing emerging talents and new audiences, and providing educational opportunities and outreach through the performing arts.
