Kahawa Cafe
Kahawa on College Street just east of Bathurst is an intimate cafe that serves the usual coffee options.

I've tried the hot chocolate and the caramel cafe mocha. Both were amazingly flavorful, but not too sweet. The tea was smelled interestingly wonderful and it will be the next thing on the menu to try out(there were about a dozen or more different ones I saw).

The best part about this shop is that it is as warm and inviting as it looks. I spent some time reading and talking to the owner who is very friendly and helpful. I'd recommend this place to anyone who would love a cozy getaway from the typical shops around the city (not that there's anything wrong with them)... 4/5!

SUNSET EXHIBIT at Kahawa Coffee house exhibit opening was great. I especially enjoyed the African Chai and the samosas

love going in the morning when she just roasted a batch. Smells so good and lingers with me. Her Tanzanian coffee is amazing. very warm place too

This place is awesome - her cappuccinos are scrumptious :)

And i am glad to see everyone loves the cozy atmosphere as much as i do. I also like seeing the local art on the walls - supporting local artist is always appreciated.

Onsite bean roasting is a nice bonus!

I have to agree with Shaun about the cafe mocha. Amazing flavour, not too sweet, but also one of the smoothest I've found in the city.

Since checking this cafe out, I find it's one of my little secrets that I keep telling everyone about.

Why aren't the hours of business posted with this blog entry.

Tim on April 25, 2008 at 1:56 AM

We don't put hours because businesses tend to update them frequently and have different hours for summer and winter. It's a huge administrative nightmare and we don't want to have incorrect/out-dated hours on the site.

Kahawa means coffee in Swahili.

don't recommend the iced tea drinks. they use syrup instead of real tea.

Jose on August 25, 2008 at 6:44 PM

JenX....Ummm, no they don't.
They sell loose leaf teas and use the same for their iced teas.
You must be confusing their sweetner with tea syrup.

I spent many weekends here using their wifi last November and although the coffee wasn't the best that I've had in town I have to say the little cafe is very comfortable and staff are very nice.

I love this place to pieces. Stay away from it, I want it all to myself :)

Wallet on August 31, 2009 at 10:09 AM

Rumor has it that the place has changed ownership and/or they might be changing the name - can anyone confirm or deny this?

Wallet on September 9, 2009 at 7:36 AM

Confirmed. There is a sign up saying that they're applying for a liquor license, under the name of "Bean" rather than "Kahawa".
