A Lot Coffee
A Lot Coffee is a small-scale coffee spot in Markham with a focus on specialty coffee and minimalist design.
Each cup is freshly-brewed using beans sourced from local Ontario roastery Hatch, not only showing their support for local business but also delivering distinct coffee profiles.
Their aesthetic interior features simple-yet-cozy neutral colours, with stylish touches of black and blue. The streamlined bench sitting areas have individual pedestal tables, creating a welcoming atmosphere for solo sippers and groups alike.
The menu features a lot of creative drink options, from classic java to Asian-inspired flavoured lattes (and some non-coffee options, too).
Named after the team's favourite Korean idol group, the Black Pink latte ($6.35) has a strawberry-flavoured pink layer that hides the subtle bitterness of the espresso shot on top.
Putting a sweet twist on the classic espresso tonic, the Lychee Americano ($5.99) is a refreshing blend of fizzy lychee juice and their medium-roast coffee. The lychee soda helps soften the intense espresso flavour before finishing off with a floral note.
Their Chocolate Lava Mocha ($6.99) is a rich and velvety cup with a light spritz of airy chocolate cream on top. The cup's drizzled with chocolate syrup, making it akin to sipping an adult version of chocolate milk —luscious and chocolatey on the palate.
The Yuzu Matcha Latte with milk foam ($6.99) is one of their bestsellers, thanks to the delightful citrusy yuzu peels that elevate the earthy matcha base. Topped with creamy milk foam, the contrasting flavours are perfect for those wanting to venture beyond a standard matcha latte.
Aside from drinks, there's a number of baked goods that are different than what you find at most cafes.
Sprinkled with a generous amount of crushed Lotus biscoff, the Lotus Croffle ($5.50) from is crispy and buttery, with just a hint of cinnamon flavour.
I also tried their Canele ($4.85) which hides a moist, custard-like interior beneath a thick caramelized crust.
If you're looking for dessert with more sophisticated flavours, an absolute must-try is the mini Earl Grey Basque Cheesecake ($9.50). Its silky texture and prominent bergamot scent is a perfect pairing for their citrus-based drinks.
A Lot Coffee is located at 28 South Unionville Ave unit 1036.
