Dencan BooksThe Dencan Books & Magazines store is located in the West end of the Junction right beside Book Exchange. Between these two stores and Pandemonium down the road, the Junction is one of the best places in the city to find used books.

Had a wonderful selling experience here.

After haggling a bit and agreeing to an amount, we completed the transaction. During a brief chat, upon telling the owner of my unemployment situation, the gentleman offered me a small extra amount of cash. But WAIT! AS I was sorting my remaining books on the sidewalk otuside, the owner came out and offered yet more cash.
I'm not sure how much I should of originally gotten, I wasn't looking for much, and realize these are tough times for book sellers. But even though they were small amounts, the gestures could not of been grander and generous:)

Also a great place to get lost and purchase some of the wonderful deals!

I called the store to inquire about a book and what do you know, this nice man that people have commented about here (Eddie) answered the call and he went out of his way to help me find the book I, unfortunately, couldn't find in his store. What a nice gentleman! May God bless him. We need more people like him in this planet of ours.

I have been buying book,comics,cds, and dvds from eddie for over 20 years!! I have nothing but great things to say about him and his store!! Dencan books is by far the best book store in toronto!!I go there at least once a week to look around or just to talk to him and he ALWAYS remembers my name! Go check dencan books out....you won't regret it!!

The owner is nice but the bookstore is so dirty! The floor looks like it hasn't been swept since the 80s and the shelves are covered in dust. I worry about the health of the owner sitting all day breathing this stuff in all day. Good luck finding a book there too as stuff is piled haphazardly in boxes strewn about the floor. I found it hard to even turn around in the scifi/fantasy section without worrying about knocking somethig over. The bookstore next door, while small, is at least clean.

I was in this store today and it's one of the best I've ever been in. Cluttered and full of treasures. The owner is a super nice guy and really knows his stuff. I found books I've been looking for, for years. Another plus is the prices are the lowest I've seen anywhere. If you don't mind the clutter etc. this is the place.

As a huge book fanatic, I can assure any book lover that a trip to Dencan's is worth it. Roughly categorized by genre, it may not be the best place to look for something specific, but Eddie (the owner) is ALWAYS willing to help out and ask around for whatever you need to find (and has found me many a book I could find no where else). If you're just browsing: this place is perfect. Old, new, hard to find, popular, he has them all. I often find so many I want I have to have them held, which has never once been a problem. Several books I'd given up hope on have been found in this store, and I know I'll only continue to discover amazing finds in that massive pile of books; and all for an excellent price. One of my staple literary sources.

Dencan used books has always been my favourite source of various reading gendres. There is something about browsing the stacked aisles and boxes of books that intriques me to find that perfect mystery. Eddie has given me a fair exchange and even suggested new authors that I might enjoy.
We're lucky to have Dencan Books in the Junction!

Decan Books is my favourite used bookstore in Toronto. More often then not, Decan's has in stock the book that i am after. The owner has a great knowledge of literature and is always helpful. Don't be overwhelmed by the clutter because Eddie knows the location of his inventory.

Hi, are you guys interested in science fiction? I have a collection of Star Trek books from the 70's and 80's, mostly pocketbooks but some 12" as well. Majority are near mint because I never got around to reading them! Please let me know.

I have visited Dencan Books for the past 5 years, and it is always a pleasure to visit. Eddie is the nicest guy, when I went to his store I was searching for old VHS wrestling videos and was surprised to find some real gems. Eddie was nice enough to call me when he would get new videos in. It's been awhile since I visited the store, think I will be visiting again very soon!

I've been to bookstores all over North America, and Dencan Books ranks with the best of them. Cluttered beyond belief, but it's an escape from the real world. Eddie the owner not only knows his stuff, but is super-friendly and great to talk to. I've never seen lower prices on hard-to-find books. This bookstore is a treasure-hunter's dream. Highly recommended to all!

If you're a book lover, you're in for a real treat with a visit to Dencan Books. Eddie is extremely helpful and may even turn you on to a new author to read, as he did for me and probably will again. You can easily lose yourself perusing through the vast amount of books and probably leave with an armful due to the low prices! Terrific place!

I echo the comments above. I've frequented Dencan's for years for armfuls of books from various genres. Eddie can always suggest a book or an author when I don't know what I feel like reading, and not once have I had to take him up on his offer to "return it if you don't like it". The shop is chock full of piles of almost hidden treasures and Eddie knows what is where. It is most enjoyable when you crave a few books to find a whole summer's worth in one visit. This shop is perfect for the Junction strip.

Do you have any People's Friend Annuals for sale? They are a hardcover series from the UK.If so, can I wedge a stroller in your place? I am on the other side of town will be taking the TTC and my well behaved 7 month old.

Fantastic book store filled with treasures, including Eddie himself! He gave me a great price on my books and let me take my time wandering through his treasures. By far the best book store in Toronto — I will be back :)

This is a great store with a great variety of books (and more!) The owner will help you find what you are looking for and there's always a good deal. I have been in multiple times and have to limit what I choose so I can carry them all home. A wonderful gem of the Junction!

My absolute favourite place to buy books! It is a gold mine of book treasures! I have built a fantastic collection thanks to this place, and you can't find a nicer person than Eddie. He goes out of his way to help you find anything. He has a great knowledge of literature, definitely knows his stock and has read almost every book out there. I owe my incredible Steinbeck collection to him! It's also the most affordable place to buy books, especially for students like me! Truly a top notch shop. The Junction would not be the same without it.

from the moment you walk into dencan books, an adventure begins as you wander through the labyrinth of books stacked floor to ceiling. obscure titles, rare books, great prices, and only eddy knows where they all are.

Hi..I have a few books that were my great grandmothers and wondering if you purchase old books or know where to take them. They are 6 hard covered books from the Dorothy Dale's series (copyright Cupples and Leon 1909 in good condition and King Albert's Book printed in Britain by Clay & Sons Ltd.. Looks very old and is in fair to poor condition as pages have yellowed but the book is still intact. Thanks for the info.
