Mitzi's Sister is one of my favorite regular neighbourhood restaurants. I like the half-price nachos night (lots of beans, sour cream, guacamole and salsa), the fish and chips, fish tacos, beet salad and lamb burger (with twisted fries: potato & sweet potato). The lamb burger is great except occasionally it's a miss (1 out of 5 times it feels like there's more bread mixed than lamb - maybe it depends on who makes the burgers). The fish is never overcooked and the batter is light and tasty. The beet/spinach salad is huge and the dressy is yummy - they put lots of goats cheese, toasted pistachios and beets in it. The fish tacos are tasty but sometimes it's not spiced as well (needs salt and more hot flavour). All dishes are generously sized and service is friendly - nachos are a meal for two and sometimes my husband and I share the beet salad with fish & chips with 2 pieces of fish). Their brunch is tasty but they don't have a plain bacon & eggs on the menu).
First off The Sister is the new name which has come with a new decor and new menu, however, the half price nachos on Monday are no longer. The nacho chips were fresh and crisp, I loved the tasted of the beans, guacamole and sauces too. Not the best but I would say Utopia, Sneeky Dees, Tacos El Astor are better. Hate to say the rest of the meals we ordered were not up to snuff, pesto sandwich,(stale bread) and the falafel sandwich had guacamole in it, not a taste sensation at all. Would we go back, only for the nachos but at $13, I think I would go elsewhere.
