Guys, the Elmo is a mere wispy shadow of the wonderful place it used to be. I've generally boycotted the place since some doofus turned the storied upstairs into some idiotic dance studio, in the worst south Asian taste imaginable. Downstairs features a stage so disconnected from the bar area that it's a joke. The sound system is only adequate (well, it was the last time I was there). The Elmo is a place where I saw Elvis Costello, Wayne Cochrane and the CC Riders,Fats Domino and hundreds more. I even presented artists there — Prof. Longhair and Clannad included (the only appearance Enya ever made in this fair city). How to turn a legendary club into a dump - these guys knew how!
im guessing thats Brasstronaut in the pic above?
I am with you, Richard. A dump indeed! I was there for Wayne Cochrane and many others. Early days of Morgan Davis, etc. etc.
Hi There,
I would like to know the cost of renting out your venue on a weekend ( Sunday during the day preferably)for a scene of a short film.
Can you advise?
Disappointed to hear that, I have the Vinyl of "April Wine Live at the El Mocambo" I just pictured as a great place to see Great Bands.
Sad. . .
