Avoid the buffet...over-priced and everything was over-cooked and/or greasy. It would have been nice if there was a description of what each item was at the buffet table as well...what looked like beef ended up being liver!!!!
Attended a friend's wedding here - what a disappointment. In theory, this place is perfect but it is clearly poorly managed. The food was food-court level and the service was indifferent. This place is definitely overrated.
I am sad to say that the Academy was a huge disappointment for my group. The Academy came well recommended, so I made a reservation for a table of 8 and a pool table. We arrived to find that while we had made the reservation for the Samuel May room (with the spectacular bar & snooker table), we were told that the Samuel May room was reserved for a private function. Would have appreciated a call from the management or hostess about this, as we were out of town and came specifically to enjoy dinner/drinks/pool and play snooker!! Things just got worse from that point - the beer menu was completely out of date (many beer were out of stock) - and our server was completely oblivious/didn't care. I would order, he would go take care of the order only to come back in about 5 minutes to say the beer was out of stock and could we please choose a different kind. This went on for about 25 minutes before we just told the server to bring a round of whatever was available. The food was mediocre at best and the dessert was olive garden-quality. What a disappointment - this place seems like it has a lot of potential, but is sadly seriously lacking even the slightest ounce of professionalism.
I found out about this place when I attended my work Christmas party last year and thought this place was great. I had never heard of it before. The food was exceptional and we had the best party yet! I decided to share the place with my friends and booked a dinner for my birthday. We all thought the food was delicious, and the service was outstanding. Our server was very knowledgeable about the scotch, and we had a few "connoisseurs" at our table who were quite impressed. We ended up staying and playing some pool and pretty much closed the place. I am very shocked to read the above comment as I highly recommend this restaurant. If not to dine, that at least for a game of pool and a drink!
Our daughter got married right there at the venue. It couldn't have suited better. The service of the staff was exceptional. We didn't have to decorate and there was something for everyone to do. Great location for all the guests to find. We shall always have very fond memories;especially the choclate covered sherbert between the courses! Wow Inge and Paul Tonini
Well what can I say..IT SUCKS. I went to my company's Christmas part and it was just a wate of time..the place is nice but only good for a drink and play a game of pool. The food was worst than food court level, they had susi it was the worst I ever had...I don't recommend this place at all to anyone.
