20080730_yummy.jpgFor the past five years Yummy Stuff, specializing in custom cakes and decorated cookies, has been a popular online store and commercial bakery. Through word of mouth, business built well and the bakery supplied a wide-variety of companies and weddings tasty baked-goods.

As of last month, the tasty treats are now a short walk away for the residents of Parkdale as Yummy Stuff opened their first store on Queen St. West.

20080730_yummy4.jpg Yummy Stuff will satisfy any sweet tooth. On any given day you will find a wide variety of cookies, cakes, cupcakes, tarts and squares and if you are lucky you may even find scones, banana bread and other breakfast breads. Cookie decorating kits are also available if you want to try your own creative designs at home.

20080730_yummy2.jpg The store is bright colorful thanks to a massive front window filled with treats to catch passersby's eyes. There are no tables or chairs inside, something I would love to see in the future (especially if they added coffee and tea to the menu). The shelves along the walls seemed a little sparse in terms of stock, but it seemed like a natural growing pain in figuring out what is needed in the first few weeks of opening. Fortunately though the display case in the front of the store was full of cookies, pies and cupcakes ready to eat and whet any appetite.
20080730_yummy1.jpgThe treats look fantastic and you can tell there is an attention to detail in every design. There are fantastic photos on their web page that show what they could do, but even more impressive to see them in person.

There are a lot of great places to get baked treats in the neighborhood but it is clear that Yummy Stuff is along the caliber of The Queen of Tarts, one of the finest bakeries in the city.

Monday - Closed
Tuesday to Friday - 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Saturday - 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sunday - noon to 5p.m.

We tasted Morag's cookies at a 60th birthday celebration in Johannesburg, South Africa. They travel well and are delicious.

Walking along queen, I was intrigued! However, after visiting the store a number of times I have noticed a pattern. Most of the cupcakes I have bought from the case were stale. It is frustrating to spend $3.50 each on a stale cupcake. I suggest baking fresh cupcakes everyday or differentiating between fresh and day old baked goods.

I love your cakes!!!!
I just completed a wedding cake and pastry course and loved it!! I was wondering if you are looking to hire anyone?
Besides the course I have been baking for years.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the chocolate cakes you provide to The Local Kitchen & Wine Bar... they're sooo delicious, moist, chocolaty without being too sweet and chewy... like when brownies stick to the roof of your mouth... sigh! BEST chocolate cakes I've ever had. Although, I noticed the last time I went to The Local two weeks ago they no longer had them :( At least I know where to get them though... I'll be visiting soon!

two times in a row, hands down best cupcakes I have had in the city. First the Smores Cupcake and then I went back to get the Ferrero Rocher but they did not have it... except I had the (probably) even better Apple Cinnamon Caramel! <3

I have tried this place a few times in the past couple years. Worst dry cupcakes I have ever had the misfortune to eat. I couldn't even finish them. People who have posted that these are the best cupcakes in the city, own or work for this place. The vanilla cake tastes artificially fake like it is made from a mix. The chocolate cake was better than the vanilla but the icing was still hard and gritty and gross. Maybe some people can like these.. but they are by no stretch the best cupcakes in the city. That is a joke.
