Yummy Stuff

20080730_yummy.jpgFor the past five years Yummy Stuff, specializing in custom cakes and decorated cookies, has been a popular online store and commercial bakery. Through word of mouth, business built well and the bakery supplied a wide-variety of companies and weddings tasty baked-goods.

As of last month, the tasty treats are now a short walk away for the residents of Parkdale as Yummy Stuff opened their first store on Queen St. West.

20080730_yummy4.jpg Yummy Stuff will satisfy any sweet tooth. On any given day you will find a wide variety of cookies, cakes, cupcakes, tarts and squares and if you are lucky you may even find scones, banana bread and other breakfast breads. Cookie decorating kits are also available if you want to try your own creative designs at home.

20080730_yummy2.jpg The store is bright colorful thanks to a massive front window filled with treats to catch passersby's eyes. There are no tables or chairs inside, something I would love to see in the future (especially if they added coffee and tea to the menu). The shelves along the walls seemed a little sparse in terms of stock, but it seemed like a natural growing pain in figuring out what is needed in the first few weeks of opening. Fortunately though the display case in the front of the store was full of cookies, pies and cupcakes ready to eat and whet any appetite.
20080730_yummy1.jpgThe treats look fantastic and you can tell there is an attention to detail in every design. There are fantastic photos on their web page that show what they could do, but even more impressive to see them in person.

There are a lot of great places to get baked treats in the neighborhood but it is clear that Yummy Stuff is along the caliber of The Queen of Tarts, one of the finest bakeries in the city.

Monday - Closed
Tuesday to Friday - 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Saturday - 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sunday - noon to 5p.m.

Fortunately though the display case in the front of the store was full of cookies, pies and cupcakes ready to eat and wet any appetite.

You probably mean 'whet'. :)

We tasted Morag's cookies at a 60th birthday celebration in Johannesburg, South Africa. They travel well and are delicious.

I bought 4 cupcakes instead if a birthday cake and will do it again. The cupcakes were fantastic.....Vanilla, Lemon, Raspberry and Chocolate......each cupcakes was delicate and light and the frosting complimented the cake......FANTASTIC CUPCAKES!

Walking along queen, I was intrigued! However, after visiting the store a number of times I have noticed a pattern. Most of the cupcakes I have bought from the case were stale. It is frustrating to spend $3.50 each on a stale cupcake. I suggest baking fresh cupcakes everyday or differentiating between fresh and day old baked goods.

I love your cakes!!!!
I just completed a wedding cake and pastry course and loved it!! I was wondering if you are looking to hire anyone?
Besides the course I have been baking for years.

Disgusting! Stale, dry, and way way too sweet.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the chocolate cakes you provide to The Local Kitchen & Wine Bar... they're sooo delicious, moist, chocolaty without being too sweet and chewy... like when brownies stick to the roof of your mouth... sigh! BEST chocolate cakes I've ever had. Although, I noticed the last time I went to The Local two weeks ago they no longer had them :( At least I know where to get them though... I'll be visiting soon!

two times in a row, hands down best cupcakes I have had in the city. First the Smores Cupcake and then I went back to get the Ferrero Rocher but they did not have it... except I had the (probably) even better Apple Cinnamon Caramel! <3

I have tried this place a few times in the past couple years. Worst dry cupcakes I have ever had the misfortune to eat. I couldn't even finish them. People who have posted that these are the best cupcakes in the city, own or work for this place. The vanilla cake tastes artificially fake like it is made from a mix. The chocolate cake was better than the vanilla but the icing was still hard and gritty and gross. Maybe some people can like these.. but they are by no stretch the best cupcakes in the city. That is a joke.

Big mistake in buying cupcakes from this place. They were so dry I'm certain they were day old's. They were terrible. I also noticed the store was not very tidy, floor was dirty and dust everywhere.

Fantastic product. Fantastic service.

I can't thank Morag enough for handling a demanding order in an incredibly short time-frame. I will be back to Yummy Stuff many times because they proved to me they care about their customers.

A cupcake craving hit and I was in search of a cupcake store in the area - luckily I had yummy stuff in the vicinity and it just happened to be on the best cupcakes list in Toronto. So today I purchased the classics - chocolate and red velvet - and in honour of Thanksgiving - pumpkin. I also bought a lemon square - I just couldn't help myself from trying it. Definitely not disappointed with the cupcakes! All three were delicious - not too sweet and absolutely moist. Unfortunately, the lemon square did not climb up the chart as the cupcakes did - let's just say I would not buy it again. But will return for the cupcakes.

I am not a vegan, but the new chcolate vegan cupcake is even tastier than the regular chocolate. Despite other comments on this site, I have never had a dry cupcake from Yummy Stuff and I've been a regular customer for several years.

Bought a cake that was already made sitting in the display case. I saw it on Thursday, but actually came back on Friday morning and purchased it. I was pleasantly surprised just how fresh, tasting it was. I found them on BlogTo website and I have no affiliation with Yummy Stuff. I don't even know who the owner is, but I was happy with service and the product. I bought 8 cupcakes over the 2 days I was there and everyone liked or loved the cupcakes too. Overall, I will be back for the next birthday celebration to try a customized cake!
