There's nothing quite like Sweet Tooth on the Danforth. Susur Lee's son rated it them the best cupcakes in Toronto in a recent taste test. There are many varieties to choose from, most with fun, sparkly, sprinkly stuff like the two above.

Ugh....seriously? I recently tried the Sweet Tooth cupcakes and they were stale, and the icing tasted canned. The gold standard are Calgary's Crave Cupcakes and I've yet to taste a Toronto cupcake that comes even close.
I was drawn into this place by the beautiful pastries in the window. I bought a couple of cupcakes and not at all impressed. Maybe because it was the early evening and they had been sitting? The cupcakes were dryyyyy...not at all the moist cupcakes I was hoping for.
The cupcakes at Sweet Tooth look pretty, but tasted just alright. I paid over $11 for 3 cupcakes so they are VERY pricey for what they are.
My faves are Its the Icing on the Cake, and Madeleine's Cherry Pie and Icecream's mini cupcakes.
Unfortunately, I also paid a lot of money for one of their cakes, and although it was beautiful, it tasted awful. I served it at a dinner party and NO ONE finished their slice.
I recently made a purchase of one dozen cupcakes to take to
a friend's birthday party. I purchased a variety of flavours as they all looked delicious. Unfortunately, to my surprise and embarassment, the cupcakes were as hard as rocks and iced with what seemed to be a form of dried out glue. I'm not sure how old they were but considering I paid a premium ($42/dozen) I was expecting them to at least be fresh. I will not be buying or recommending anyone to purchase anything from Sweet Tooth in the future. Although they looked delicious they turned out to be a huge disapointment.

I just removed four negative comments. They were all made under the same IP address but under a different username. However, there was reason to believe that the comments were all made by the same individual.
I have to agree: I've tried their cupcakes on three separate occasions, and while I've always been excited, I've always been disappointed. Depending on the time of day you go there, there seems to be a varying degree of freshness. We went there late in the afternoon, and that was when our cupcakes were at their least freshest. It's a pity too, since the place actually has a nice feel to it.
The butter cream icing on the cupcakes is delicious. My favourites are the rasperry and strawberry. The pecan flan and the apple pie are also among the best i've ever tasted. The other great thing about Sweet Tooth is that you can sit down and enjoy yourself without feeling rushed to leave.
I agree with Joe, I recently tried Sweet Tooth's cupcakes for the first time and I will be back for more. The store is beautiful and the people who work there are so friendly and welcoming. It may be a little pricey but it's worth it!
I'm with Joe and Grace on this one- I'll be back for sure. It's also one of the only places I know with great bread pudding
"The gold standard are Calgary's Crave Cupcakes and I've yet to taste a Toronto cupcake that comes even close."
EXACTLY. I'm a native Torontonian who was fortunate enough to live in Calgary for a bit. Crave Cupcakes - THE BEST.
Try The Buttercream Bake Shoppe in Calgary. They are way less sweet than Crave and way yummier. They have a tonne of flavors.
This is a wonderful old world style patisserie. Alex and her staff are very friendly. I have noticed that many people have posted comments about the cupcakes. That is only one single item on the luscious menu - I tried chocolate brownies, linzer ribbon squares and they were delicous. The cakes look phenomenal - for special occasions....it is the great tradition of warm service and deliciously indulgent sweets.
You can comment all you want about which are the best cupcakes in Toronto. Unfortuantely, cupcakes in Toronto are simply 3rd rate - without exception... All of you that commented her, go to magnolia or crumbs in NYC and you'll never be able to eat a cupcake here again!!!
I too was VERY disappointed with the cupcakes. There was an older lady in the line in front of me who after hearing how much the cupcakes were turned around and headed out. I should have followed her lead. The cake part is STALE, and the icing is average. I've had better cupcakes from a DuncanHeinz box.
Way too expensive for what it is. They need to focus less on the pretty and more on the quality.
I tried once their cupcakes, and I was very disapointed!!
One advice, try The Sweet Escape Patisserie in the Distillery district, you won't regret it. Everything is homemade, and they have other stuff like sandwiches/ice creams...
It's one of my favorite place :)
Cupcakes are not very good indeed - BUT... good looking boy server that you must talk to if you get the chance. i don't know his name, but he's the only guy i've seen there.
This is no 'patisserie' the pastries are expensive, stale and in some cases days old. Have to wonder about a cake shop that gets it's stuff from a third party. At least Dufflets has it's own bakery and the quality of their stuff is always good.
Danforth lacks a good cupcake shop and sadly sweettooth misses the mark badly.
Bonjour Brioche makes amazing fresh pastries and breads, give it a try and the brunch is amazing.
I was happy to finally have a reason to go into this shop tonight. It is a friends birthday and I was bringing the cake. The staff didn't seem to interested in selling me anything. I actually went back to give them a second chance and the server who finally noticed me had her back to me while I was talking to her. Thank goodness for Dufflet
Unfortunately Tim, there are alot more than four negative comments noted here. Also, several comments and suggestions to try better products elsewhere. I have also tried many of the sweets at this little patisserie and although the staff are friendly and everthing looks appealing - the reality is the product falls short. Dry, expensive, bland are a few things that come to mind...definitely a let down.
This place should be called Stale Tooth, the prices are sky high and their cakes and cupcakes suck.
I wasted some hard earned money on a cake based on curiosity and the pretty display, but once you cut into the cake you get a junky, dry, and I was embarrased to have served it. I will miss my $50 and will never, ever buy anything from Sweet Tooth. So many better options out there.
$42/dozen - WOW! Are they made of gold?
I have a question that has nothing to do with cupcakes - did you graduate from St.Robert's HS -about 25 years ago?
bought 2 french macaroons from there yesterday and boy was it a WASTE OF MONEY.
first they over charged me by $1, and it was just horrible.
i made the mistake of asking if their stuff is house made, and i was told that they buy all their stuff. Sweet Tooth is one place I'll never visit again. In fact, I hope you guys remove it from your top ten cup cake list
We had a dessert potluck at work and one of my co workers bought some cup cakes in from sweet tooth. The cupcakes looked really good, but taste was poor. The icing was bland with no texture and the cupcake was dry (not moist as I pictured in my mind). I was planning to go get some before I tried them, but definitely not worth it.
