Funktion Gallery Opens This Friday

Posted by Tim / December 30, 2008

Funktion Gallery TorontoIn the latest sign that Bloordale is shaping up to be the city's next gallery district, Funktion Gallery opens this Friday at 1244 Bloor St. West. The inaugural show will feature new work from theFacelessFew collective and a mix of art, clothing, vinyl, music, graffiti and funk.

With their imminent arrival, Funktion joins the Toronto Free Gallery, Mercer Union and Paul Bright Gallery as new residents in the neighbourhood formerly known more for the House of Lancaster and Club Paradise strip clubs, and some pretty good falafel joints. I hope the galleries collaborate on their schedules so they have some openings on the same night. It'd make for a good gallery crawl alternative to Ossington, Parkdale and West Queen West.

More info on Funktion on Facebook. The Facebook Event for the opening is here.

Thanks for writing this up, we had an amazing opening night, and it is just going to get bigger.

Funktion Gallery loves all of Toronto, so please drop by and say hello or at least give a high five of some sorts. Keep it real - everyone.

It's nice to have young fresh energy in the neighbourhood. I wish you great success.
