04. Cinecycle - Pleasure Dome presents News from Home - Dec 8

Pleasure Dome presents News from Home: Sense and Nonsense. Friday, December 8, 8pm $5 @ Cinecycle, 129 Spadina Ave.

News from Home: Sense and Nonsense is a meditation on the news and how it fosters the most powerful and confusing of anxious feelings. Instead of whipping you into a righteous frenzy of fear and outrage, the videos in the programme take a step back and scrutinize the official story - deconstructing, distorting and distilling the news media's sensationalism with a barrage of tactics from rapid-fire collage to absurd surrealism to clear-headed testimonials.

29 young artists, designers and craftspeople gather to sell awesome stuff. Jewellery, clothing (men's and women's), ceramics, little gifts, big gifts.

DIFFERENT STROKES:

This exhibition of recent works by contemporary Canadian abstractionists demonstrates different styles and tendencies in painting. The artists in this show make reference to the dominant forms of painting in the twentieth century, while pursuing highly individualistic methodologies.
