Powerless Power Plant
Why does the smoke stack at the Power Plant now say "Powerless"?
Well, I checked their website (link above) and that hasn't been updated since Sept. 04. And the Harbourfront site redirects me to the aforementioned hugely out-of-date site.
An automatic response to my email also urged me to check out the website.
Does anyone know what the Powerless refers to? Is is a post-post-modern, self-referential comment on their technological difficulties?

It seems to think that it can run solely on volunteers, which is why the number of visitors are quickly decreasing.
It's sad really when you consider all that space that could be used by local performing artists to bring life to what is now nothing but cold hard shells of buildings.
I really hate that about the arts infrastructure sometimes. Just because people are passionate about the arts doesn't mean they should be working for nothing.
Can we write a letter to some city council person or something in protest, get someone to shake the money managers into spending cash on employee wages?
It is quite strange - especially that you talk so much about tourists... instead quite often 'touristic' sites are not updated, not working properly or just giving old, 'passed' information...
On the other hand what else to expect, if Tourism Toronto was able to 'produce famous' ads in American press promoting festivals well gone...
Ask about quality of work and quality of persons who do this work... and then maybe once more think over why Toronto lost its Olympic bid (or anything else - including problems with waterfront, etc...).
When one gets work giving him enough power and money - he forgets how he shoud execute this work. This is why all those costly colsultants, projections and other stupid bla, bla... spending becomes more important than earning...
This is generally problem with lack of work ethics in Canada... that is widely tolerated. Sorry to say that - but it seems the best explanation.
