Toronto Cyclists Union to get new chair

Yvonne Bambrick is stepping down as chair of the Toronto Cyclist Union, making way for Andrea Garcia who will take over the position.

Garcia was brought on earlier in the year as Advocacy and Operations Director. Bambrick writes that Garcia has "proven herself to be a tremendous leader, with the capacity to carry the bike union into our third full year."

Bambrick says that the move has been in the works for some time, but that she pledged to stay on board until after the municipal election. Despite Rob Ford's victory, Bambrick says that she is optimistic that "the bike union will find ways to work with our new mayor and council to improve safety on our streets for cyclists and promote the use of bikes in Toronto - from Etobicoke all the way to Scarborough."
