Huzzah! The G20 security fence is finally finished, giving Toronto's downtown core that penitentiary-chic look that's been long overdue.

The security border's traffic fence, which is currently open, can be closed at a moment's notice due to security risk, which would block access to the area entirely. The zone extends from Spadina Avenue to Yonge Street, and from King Street West south to Lake Shore Boulevard. Restricted access will begin Friday. Motorists will be required to pass through checkpoints and provide identification.

Cars will not be allowed into the area closest to the Convention Centre known as the "red zone" (which I always believed to be a high performance solid) altogether. Individuals may be asked to show ID in the area starting Thursday. Some pedestrians were already questioned and asked to provide identification in the red zone today, but police said the requests were premature.

So get out those cameras, snap a few photos of this once-in-a-billion-dollar gridlock event, and then swiftly hand it over to authorities for security reasons.
