This Week in Fashion: Bye Bye Compendium Daily, Tory Burch has a new home, Nyood Bar & FAT support local fashion, and America's Next Top Model takes on CUBE

This Week in Fashion rounds up the week's style news, store openings and closings, pop-up shops, sales and upcoming fashion and design events in Toronto. Find it here every Wednesday morning.

NEWS

The Compendium Daily has shut down. Founder JJ Thompson says he's moving onto other initiatives and handing over party and scene coverage to friend Ryan Emberley at his new site Cdaily.ca. Billing itself as Toronto's unofficial society page, Thompson's site first surfaced in 2009 and while it never seemed to grow beyond a devoted core audience, it did a stellar job delivering pretty, time-wasting photos.

OPENINGS

Tory Burch is coming to Toronto. The American luxury designer is finally planting some roots on Canadian soil by opening her first Canadian boutique at Yorkdale Shopping Centre. Launching on May 4th, the boutique will feature some of Burch's pieces from her Spring 2012 Collection that will include PrĂŠt-Ă -Porter apparel, accessories, and footwear.

EVENTS AND PARTIES

Toronto Arts and Fashion Week [FAT] is upon us. Through performance art, music production, runway, and film; FAT values contemporary expression from up-and-coming artists in and around the city and country. This year, FAT is being held in a massive, 15,000 square foot historic, industrial warehouse located on Sterling Road. Read our preview post here.

Nyood Bar is debuting a new, exciting venture, dubbed Nyood Bar Pop-Up, on Sunday, April 29th. Pop-Up will be a monthly event that will feature the latest works of designers in the city in an attempt to showcase fantastic local talent. As a result, Nyood will offer fashion enthusiasts not only the opportunity to explore local work, but to also get their hands on one-of-a-kind, signature pieces. This month will feature designers Dutch Blonde, Outclass, RebusLIFE, and Aeroplane Vintage Eyewear. Brunch + Fashion? Yes, please.

America's Next Top Model is invading Toronto. America's Next Top Model LIVE is an event taking place between May 4th and 6th in Toronto at the Metro Convention Centre that will feature not only the ANTM girls, but a peek into the world of fashion, beauty, and modelling. In celebration of this event, YYZ Group and CUBE have joined forces to host a massive industry party on Saturday, May 5th.
