CFC Media Lab Fall Exhibition

Last night I stopped by Lennox Contemporary for the launch of the CFC Media Lab's 2007 Exhibition. The exhibit showcases five intriguing new media prototypes created by CFC Media Lab residents, as well as a screening of the interactive film Late Fragment. My two favourite prototypes among the bunch included:

LMNO-Pics: Pictured above, this is a way cool game for kids that involves letter blocks, a spelling board and Flickr. To play, you place letters on the board which spell out words which LMNO-Pics uses to search photo tags in your Flickr account that include those letters. The idea is to upload family photos to the account so that it not only helps kids learn how to spell, but does so in a fun environment that allows them to explore their family's photos.

Witness That Place: This revolves around a web site where you can explore video-based stories of trauma that occurred in various Toronto public places.

Other prototypes are profiled on CFC's web site. The exhibit runs today and tomorrow from 12-5 at Lennox Contemporary as well as during Nuit Blanche.
