Womenswear designers outnumber menswear designers in Canada by about a million to one, so it's always nice to see a new dedicated player on the scene during Fashion Week other than stalwarts Philip Sparks and Bustle.

DIMITRICHRIS was one of the three designers showing at the Brick Works this week (Joeffer Coac was one of the others), and his collection, while a little repetitious, was still a strong showing for the young Montreal designer.

His real strength lay in the refreshing cuts and interesting shapes of the pieces, like the short-sleeved navy blazer, the white dress pants with cargo pockets, the vest with a deep u-shape, a double-breasted trench-like blazer, and a sleeveless royal-blue striped oxford. There were even some bizarre quarter-trench dickeys, worn over tanks.

The rest of the collection was a pretty standard selection of pinstriped shorts and pants, perfect for summer nights out. My eyes began to glaze over at all the pastels and stripes and blazer after blazer after blazer, but, for finding a piece or two to round out your spring wardrobe, DIMITRICHRIS is a solid sartorial choice.
