Bustle ends Toronto Fashion Week
Who better to bring Toronto Fashion Week to a close than Toronto's very own Bustle? Designers Shawn Hewson and Ruth Promislow finished the season to a packed house of those hungry for the usual tongue-in-cheek tomfoolery of Bustle's runway shows.
The stage was set with Canadian personalities Jeanne Beker and Rick Mercer, as well as designer Evan Biddell and model Stacey McKenzie, dressed in their very best party outfits, taking a seat at the foot of the runway for the duration of the presentation. Fun!
Double-breasted suit jackets and vests were a hit, made all the better by silver buttons. Another highlight was the solid vests with patterned back, and the jackets with more pattern peeking out from under the collar, providing a nice touch of personality.
Bustle made menswear a little more sexy by throwing a couple of female models in the mix, sending them down the runway with nothing underneath their open vests or cropped jackets.
The clothing looked comfortable and stylish, although the models' dark-rimmed glasses and super-casual sneakers felt a bit over-styled. As look after look came drifting down the runway, it was the strong colour combinations that kept my attention. Royal purples and blues combined with rich grays and silvers unified the separates nicely, too.
Bustle's F/W 2010 actual clothing blurred in with seasons past, but it cannot be denied that this pair are more than capable of putting on a fashion show to remember.
