Global chicken chain opening its first Toronto locations

A chicken chain with locations all over the globe is finally opening its first location in downtown Toronto.

ChickQueen made a splash when they opened in Mississauga last year.

The halal chain with origins in Dubai is known for their menu of grilled and fried chicken, available as pieces, sandwiches, tenders and in popcorn chicken form, and in a tandoori flavour. In Canada, they're only using chicken from Canadian farms.

They've been around since the year 2000, and now have locations in over 23 countries.

Over 230 locations of ChickQueen already exist in New Zealand, Australia, India, Ireland and Indonesia.

They're hoping to expand aggressively into Canada now, with a goal of opening 50 more locations across the country within the next few years. They're also hoping to create 200 to 250 full-time and part-time jobs in the communities they're expanding to.

"We're grateful for the positive response we continue to receive from our Canadian customers," says Amir Waheed, president of ChickQueen Canada.

"We are now excited to expand our restaurants to Toronto downtown."

ChickQueen should be opening on Queen St. in downtown Toronto sometime in September and another one in Scarborough later this year.
