It's going to feel like summer again in Toronto this week

Bummed about the onset of chilly temperatures in Toronto? Don't be: The nice thing about living here is that weather conditions can change about as quickly as you can curse them.

What I'm saying is that summer-like weather is expected to return, albeit briefly, to Southern Ontario in the days ahead, giving hope to those of us who have cute new skirts we haven't yet had a chance to rock.

According to both Environment Canada and The Weather Network, temperatures will rise back up into the low 20s this week, hitting a high of 21 C (with a feels-like temperature of at least 22 C) by Wednesday.

While Wednesday and Thursday are currently predicted to be the warmest days by far, Monday and Tuesday aren't looking too shabby either with respective highs of 14 C and 18 C under sunny skies.

Hey, following last week's wet misery and recent spate of frigid, frosty air, we'll take it.

If only for a few days.

"After a cool start to October in Central Canada, a welcome temperature rebound will arrive as the new week starts," reads a Weather Network report published Sunday.

"The pleasant warmth will see temperatures jump back into late-summer territory by mid-week, surging into the low 20s for parts of southern Ontario and Quebec. However, it won't last long."

Meteorologists go on to say that a "sharp cooldown will send temperatures plummeting into November values by Friday, accompanied by the chance of frost and snow in some areas as daytime highs stick to the single digits."

Things will stay cool, if the forecast is accurate, as we approach Thanksgiving, but there's hope yet for your fall jacket to make another appearance before parkas take over.

"Chilly weather will remain for the start of the long weekend, but temperatures should rebound somewhat to near seasonal as it progresses," says Weather Network meteorologist Dr. Doug Gillham.

"However, there is the potential for a couple days of milder weather during the following week."
