People in Toronto are transforming their homes into live art and music spaces

Renting out your home on Airbnb or Facebook Marketplace is a common occurrence, but have you ever heard of someone renting out their space to serve as an entertainment venue?

Several Toronto residents are beginning to transform their homes into live art and music spaces through the web-based platform Side Door Access

The Halifax-based company was founded in 2017 and supports in-person shows by turning any space into a venue.

One of these DIY entertainment venues is located right here in Toronto, called "The Brockton."

The space is set in Toronto residents Sara and Geoff's open-concept home in Brockton Village, and its already hosted a few events.

"We're inspired to share our space to celebrate and connect with arts and culture," a description of the space reads.

The space can host intimate and small shows on the main floor as well as in the backyard. Artists can make use of the home's upright piano and guests can lounge about in the standing/sitting room for a day full of infectious grooves.

The next artist set to play at the venue is Toronto-based indie-pop singer-songwriter Julie Neff, and tickets for the event are already on sale.

The Brockton's next show featuring Neff will take place on Saturday, April 15 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are currently available for $15
