Karen Stintz responds to Rob Ford's lewd comment

Mayoral candidate Karen Stintz responded to lewd remarks from Rob Ford at a press conference at city hall this morning. Characterizing the mayor's comments as "misogynistic" and "embarrassing," the former TTC Chair argued "Rob Ford is not Toronto." The veracity of that statement is dubious to be sure, but Stintz drove home her point in deciding not to call for Ford's resignation (as others have done), opting instead to leave the matter in the hands of the voters. "The only people who can remove Rob Ford from his office are the people of Toronto," Stintz said. "I have faith in the people of this city."

Stintz also called Ford out for not apologizing for his already notorious remark that he'd like to "fucking jam her." For his part, Ford said he didn't recall making any of the statements attributed to him, and that the word "jam" was not his terminology. I guess that audio recording is a bit pesky when it comes to such a claim, though. "If Rob Ford was truly sorry, he would have apologized to me last night," Stintz rightfully pointed out. "And I'm not interested in an empty apology--we've heard too many of those. Rob Ford needs to get help."
