Warkworth Lilac Festival

This small town in Ontario will get a blossoming lilac trail this spring

Spring is finally starting to bloom in Ontario, and the small town of Warkworth will be getting a spectacular lilac trail and festival to celebrate the gorgeous flowers next month that you won't want to miss.

Located an hour and a half from Toronto, the 11th annual Warkworth Lilac Festival returns for the last weekend of May.

There are countless rare and unique varieties of lilacs planted that range from white to ultra violet. By late May, their peak colours will present themselves and turn the trail into a showcase of blooms to revel in.

The festival will include activities for visitors of all ages, and have a variety of vendors, live music, and food services.

One of the best parts of the festival is strolling along the Millennium Lilac Trail, a 2.6 km creek side walking path, where you'll find yourself surrounded by 300-plus plantings representing over 60 varieties of lilacs.

If you cannot attend the festival weekend itself, the lilac trail will still be available to explore free of charge, with the flowers lasting around a month from late May to late June.

The festival will also host several events over the course of the weekend, so be sure to check out the events calendar before planning your trip.
