Leafs no longer most valuable NHL team

The Toronto Maple Leafs can say na na na na hey hey goodbye to being the most valuable NHL franchise.

According to Forbes, the team is now worth $1.15 billion, which makes it the third most valuable franchise behind the Montreal Canadiens ($1.18 billion) and the New York Rangers ($1.2 billion). As the Toronto Star notes, the average NHL team is now worth $505 million.

According to the Star, the Leafs' poor performance over the past number of years has likely led to its decreased valuation. It's no surprise really considering the team hasn't made it to the playoffs since 2013. And, if these rankings count for anything, ESPN has named the Leafs the worst sports franchise in North America for the past two years.
