The Yorkville Club

Last night I ended up at the opening party for The Yorkville Club in Hazelton Lanes, above Whole Foods. I've been keeping a distant eye on this place for a few months, but going to the opening party concluded that my predictions of the vibe were accurate: think Lululemon sweats meet Versace furs meets bodies that would make Hilary Swank bow her head in shame. Oh, and you can throw Paris Hilton into the mix while you're at it.

The party was done very right, with

Sassafraz catering and Inniskillin serving chilled vino to name a few. Live music blared while members went on their merry ways and worked-out. Yes, it was a bit surreal. The party was fully equipped with an Inuit Wisdom Keeper, sample shiatsu massages, and the equipment was primo with practically every treadmill and stair-master set up with a private television... I kid you not. To celebrate all things uber-posh, my pal LQ posed with her chapeau elegant, a plump fruit skewer and wine glass while testing her strength last night.

So you wanna know the fees? There's a $349 initiation fee, and then it's $69.50 biweekly. A hefty notch out of my price range, but if I wanted to experience an hour in there, they offer yoga classes at $16 each, and you DON'T have to be a member to partake.

Not sure if I'll be venturing back, myself... perhaps after I invest in a Toyota Hybrid, a Vuitton bag and pick up some L. Armstrong bracelets I'll be almost hip enough to return.
