ENVIRONMENT | Lake Ontario Evenings: Landscape Edition
The Toronto Region Conservation Authority brings this event together tonight for those environmental enthusiasts who not only want to take action to protect wildlife and our waterways, but are also interested in details regarding the history of these areas. Two different presentations will provide much insight into Lake Ontario's history in the grand scheme of things: along an archeological and ecological timeline, as well as its more recent history as a landing point for New World settlers. There will be a Q & A following the presentations.

MUSIC | Sebadoh
Lo-fi indie rock pioneers Sebadoh are in town tonight, promoting the latest reissues from their back catalogue. This band was formed in the 80s by Eric Gaffney and Low Barlow, the bassist from Dinosaur Jr, initially as an outlet for Barlow's songwriting that wasn't given a fair shake by J Mascis. With several lineup changes, the band eventually ceased touring and recording by the late 90s, and reformed again in 2007 when the first reissues of their earlier material were released. Definitely a must-catch!

FILM | Toronto Silent Film Festival presents The Ironic Icons of Comedy
The Toronto Silent Film Festival continues! Tonight's two features could very well have you in stitches.... Two of the era's favourite comic actors, WC Fields and Harold Lloyd, deliver tonight's goodies. The first film at 7pm, "Hot Water", is a Harold Lloyd favourite, and at 8:30pm it's the Eddie Sutherland-directed classic, "It's The Old Army Game". Once again, Andrei Streliaev is in the house to accompany the films just as it was done back in "the day."

ART | Function Exhibition
Function Magazine is an annual Ryerson U's student-run publication and DVD, serving the greater community as a "guide to visual culture." The magazine typically contains (or reviews) the work of students in various media, as well as essays and interviews. Tonight's fundraiser at the Steamwhistle Brewery helps to promote and sustain the publication, and could be a cool shindig, with of course, beer, plus food, and a DJ.
