Roxy Blu Reunion

Good Vibes at the Roxy Blu Reunion

Who says you can't go back in time? Although loads of people will be declaring the Daft Punk After Party as the event of 2007, Saturday night's Roxy Blu Reunion at Revival was definitely the feel-good night of the year.

For the first half of this decade, Roxy Blu was the place to be for deep house, funk, soul and hip hop nights. Some of the scene's hottest promoters all had nights at Roxy including Garage 416, Solid Garage, Movement, Bump N' Hustle and MILK.

These promoters brought in loads of top international talent including New York House legend Lil' Louis Vega (pictured here at Roxy Blu in 2005). My favourite night at Roxy was definitely Movement on the last Friday of every month, and I think the most memorable event I attended there was back in 2002 when MILK brought in Bobbito from New York, who spun a sublime set of almost exclusively 45's and somehow mixed house, funk, hip hop with Led Zeppelin and the Beatles.

My friends and I were really looking forward to the Roxy Blu Reunion and it did not disappoint. There were two floors of music featuring all the great local DJs that filled Roxy with an eclectic mix of danceable grooves and positive energy. Paul E Lopes, Jason Palma, Nav, John Kong, Felix & Gani and many others kept the crowd dancing all night long.

It was great to see Revival packed with Roxy supporters. Hopefully they'll do it again. My friends and I will definitely be there.
