Camera Bar Scales Back

The promise of an intimate neighbourhood screening room showing hard to find artsy, foreign and documentary films seems to have failed. Under new management, Camera Bar has scaled back and is now only open for private functions and free Saturday afternoon screenings.

Out of the picture is founder Mongrel Media. Atom Egoyan is still in a supporting role, assisting the Stephen Bulger Gallery - the new managers - with programming. The new direction will see the gallery linking the screenings with work being show by artists next door. It's not a bad idea, but it's unfortunately a far cry from what this space could be.
