Kimberly Newport Mimran

Videos of Pink Tartan and Joe Fresh S/S 2012

Ah, the Pink Tartan show. It's always a draw, and always a hit more than a miss. I appreciate designer Kimberly Newport-Mimran's line of impeccably-tailored womenswear because she's still got that independent-yet-exclusive vibe that isn't set in a mass retailer mentality. When she opened Seventy Seven, her flagship shop in Yorkville, it was an outlet for her collections in a safe space, which seems appropriate given what she's produced in the past, and what we all know she's capable of producing in the future.

But there's always a terrible anxiety with going to a PT show, especially given that it precedes Joe Fresh, the biggest one of the week. It's partly a social thing, partly a heritage thing, and partly a deserved thing; to miss a Pink Tartan show is a near sin in the eyes of baby bloggers.

But I did. Reports say US editors were perched along the front row, again. This season, instead of V magazine's Derek Blasberg, we had Teen Vogue's Gloria Baume. And Marie Claire's Abigail Kalicka. And Glamour's Rachael Wang. It's a joint effort on Newport Mimran and husband Joe's part, as the Fresh line now stocks in New York and Pink Tartan has always been an American favourite. What did you miss? Watch the video and tell me.
