Toronto restaurant that was a local favourite for Indian food has permanently closed

A Toronto restaurant that was a local favourite for Indian street food has permanently closed its doors after four years in the city.

Indian Spice Room, formerly located at 717 Queen St. E., was well-known for its 100 per cent vegetarian and vegan menu that included Indian street food from all over the country.

On the menu, you'd find lots of dishes and snacks from Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata, including matar kulcha, aloo tikki, pav bhaji, and masala dosa.

"Thank you so much to all our community members, BIA, residents, and our customers for such beautiful support over the last four years," staff at the restaurant wrote on Instagram.

"We went through a lot during COVID but all of you made it possible for us to spend wonderful time in this community."

While the comments of the announcement post were filled with heartbroken reactions, staff assured loyal customers that they hope to be back with a "new and improved location sometime in the future."
