Toronto sign

Toronto might get a T.O. sign to move around the city

The Toronto sign at Nathan Phillips Square is less than one year old, but some already consider it iconic. That's why city councillor Norm Kelly proposed bringing three additional Toronto-related signs to areas throughout the city.

As CP24 reports today, Toronto's Economic Development Committee will consider a staff report that supports the creation of a new T.O. mobile sign. Back in October, Kelly suggested the city seek out corporate or commercial funding for this project, the report however, recommends against this model.

This mobile sign would cost about $100,000 to build and $100,000 to maintain and move around the city.

As to why it'll say T.O. and not T Dot or The 6, the report says these terms are dated and too closely related to Drake, respectively.

If the city moves forward with this, we won't see this mobile sign until at least 2017.
