Toronto company makes SUV bigger than a Hummer

If you're in the market for an armoured SUV, and have a high six-figure budget, you can buy local. That's because automative company Conquest Vehicles Inc. manufactures its Knight XV sports utility vehicles in Toronto.

According to a Canadian Press report, the luxurious and highly secure Knight XV starts at a whopping $629,000. Though, because the trucks are fully customizable, most cost much more. There are only 17 on roads worldwide and buyers include the prince of the United Arab Emirates and Houston Rockets centre Dwight Howard. Aside from the company's test SUV, none are driven in Canada.

The hand-crafted Knight XV (the XV stands for extreme vehicle) weighs more than a Hummer and can continue driving for 80 km even if its tires have been shot at. As a fully armoured vehicle, its window can also stop an AK-47 bullet. Although, the trucks aren't exactly fuel efficient; they use 34 litres of gas per 100 kilometres.

What do you think of the Knight XV? Let us know in the comments.
