This house located at 5 Parkview Avenue is a step back in time. Not only is the exterior a classic Toronto Victorian semi-detached, but the interior is full of, er, character too. Hard wood floors, restored woodwork, stained glass - this home is classic Cabbagetown. Interior design choices will of course be up to the new owners (who are sure to have their hands full with this one), but I'd say keep the loud wallpaper that welcomes guests in the foyer. Historic charm, and it will wake them up.

Upstairs, the time warp continues with the bedrooms. The master bedroom is small by today's standards, but the intricate fireplace helps make up for it (this is a keeper). And in the same vein, the main bathroom on the second floor includes an iron stove next to a historic mantle place. Better start practicing your fire making skills, unless you go full Victorian and have a housemaid to do that for you.

GOOD FOR

Victorian buffs. If you're sick of seeing historic homes modernized with an open concept design, this is the house for you. Although this house was at some point updated, it retains a historic feel. This doesn't feel like a new condo behind a brick facade. Sit down in the living room for a game of whist, and pretend you can hear the elephants trumpeting over at Riverdale Zoo.

MOVE ON IF

You want clean lines, sharp edges, and new appliances. Though the house isn't without some updates, it still feels very dated. The kitchen might be reminiscent of your grandmother's house. And if you're moving with modern furniture, that might cause a bit of a clash. Though, come to think of it, that clash might just be amazing.
